My 30th Birthday Party
Pearlin and I held a BBQ on the day of my 30th birthday, which was this month. Here are the pictures:

My brother Eddie brought 24 "Yang Burgers", and they were a big hit. A "Yang Burger" is a hamburger that uses our family recipe: ground beef, chopped onions, soy sauce, black pepper, and corn starch. Yang burgers taste much better than standard beef patties :-)
We did a lot of work on our backyard to make it suitable for guests. We have a large backyard, so let's just say we had a lot of weeds and overgrown plants to put under control. We put a bunch of benches and chairs under our large tree, which created lots of shade. The weather was perfect, and I think all of our guests were quite comfortable under the tree.
Toward the end of the party, some of us played bridge. That would be me, Eddie, Tony, and Lorentz. If I recall correctly, our bidding overall was quite good. If you play bridge and I don't know it, please let me know. It is hard to get 4 bridge players in the same room.
Mother's Day
Arash, one of my best friends, just got married to a beautiful Persian girl named Niaz. They make a cute (and intelligent) couple. Arash will be a radiologist in a couple of years, and Niaz will be an opthamologist! The funny thing is that they got married on Mother's Day. Apparently, they had to get married on a Sunday because if they had gotten married on a Saturday, they would not have been allowed to use a Persian caterer! The food was delicious and incredibly plentiful. There were hors douvres, a large meal, another large meal, and a humongous dessert display. When the dessert was available (after 11:30pm!), Pearlin and I were so stuffed already that we didn't even bother eating the dessert. The ceremony itself was authentic. In fact, they spoke only Farsi (no English) so it was difficult to follow what was going on! Also, although most American weddings occur on time, I guess Persian time is different, because the ceremony didn't start until about 7pm, but was scheduled for 5:30pm!
Conveniently, they got married in LA, so Pearlin and I visited my mom for Mother's Day before the wedding started. Eddie also came for the weekend, so we had a good family time. Mother's Day brunch at Cannon's restaurant (Dana Point) was quite expensive, and the food was decent, but not incredible. The view of the Dana Point Harbor, however, was quite nice, and we walked around after the brunch.
