Wedding Anniversary / MathScore Stuff

2nd Year Wedding Anniversary
Pearlin and I recently went to Napa for the first time together to celebrate our 2nd year wedding anniversary. Napa is very beautiful, and the French food over there is delicious. Based on recommendations from friends, we ate at Brix for lunch (affordable and delicious) and Bouchon (also a great deal) for dinner. Bouchon has a very appealing bakery attached to it, so we bought stuff from the bakery as well. We stayed in Yountville at the Heritage Inn. Our room was spacious and clean, and it came with two sinks in the bathroom!

Can you tell which one is Yount?

At the Rubicon Estate (Niebaum Coppola Winery)

Our anniversary fell on a Monday this year, so we went to Napa on that Monday. If you can afford the time to visit Napa on a Monday, I highly recommend it. Traffic simply wasn't a problem, and it was easy to book a tour at the Rubicon Estate. We saw some of Francis Ford Coppola's relics from the past, including Godfather stuff and the car from Tucker. At some point in time, they will transfer these items to Coppola's new winery in Sonoma so that they can handle larger crowds of tourists. But seeing that we visited on a Monday, they probably had less than 200 visitors for the entire day, instead of more than 1000 on a typical weekend day.

New Minnesota Deal!
I just got confirmation today that a small school district in Minnesota will be paying me for MathScore.com next school year! This is significant because this is my first non-California school district to pay for service. My contact over there in Minnesota had been fighting their bureacracy, and she won in the end, so we have a deal. Woohoo!

Homeschoolers
Homeschoolers are starting to subscribe directly to MathScore as well. I hope that word of mouth within their community will fuel subscriptions to my service. The most consistent feedback I receive is that the product is user-friendly, so I'm really happy about that.

Ultimte Frisbee
Ultimate frisbee has been fun this year. I play with friends in a casual game on Thursday evenings. Last week, my neighbor Dan came along to play, and he played hard! It was his first time ever playing ultimate frisbee, and he did quite well for a newbie. He's a natural at catching a frisbee, and he even managed to catch some bombs that I threw to him. He even hurt his ankle in a way that resembles a sprained ankle, except that he never actually turned his ankle. I'm not sure how that's possible, but he played through the pain like a champ the whole time.
